How you leave others feeling after having an experience with you becomes your Brand…
The Purpose of Sales
Sales make the world go around through the fulfilling of needs, wants, and desires. The purpose of sales is to fill needs or in other words to help people.
The point of being a salesman is finding people who need your product and then getting your product to them.
The purpose of sales is retraining current customers and bring new customers into your business. Sales translated into income and monetary success.
What is a Marketing?
Do not confuse Marketing and Branding as the same thing; they are not!
Marketing is a ONE WAY outgoing communication.
Marketing is having “stuff” go out using:
- Social Media
- Podcasts
- Blogs
- Networking
- Direct Mail
- Printing
- Promotional Products
or anything else that a business may use to “get the word out.”
Marketing’s ONE WAY communication to make a brand Visible and Credible, so that potential customers are compelled to “self-qualify” that they want to know more about a business’ offerings.
So, does a business just “shotgun” their marketing efforts as wide and far as possible?
Maybe, but doing so can be very expensive, not to mention exhausting!
There is a better way to Market your business!
It’s better for most businesses to be as strategic as possible with their marketing efforts. But if a business is going to be strategic with their marketing they must identify who are their targets and what they expected the sales outcome are going to be.
Simply put, marketing brings people to the sales table and sales closes the deal.
What is a Brand?
The American Marketing Association (AMA) defines a brand as a Name, Term, Design, Symbol, or any other feature that differentiates (the key word in this definition that really matters) one seller’s good or service as distinct from those of other sellers.
The legal term for brand is trademark. A brand may identify one item, a family of items, or all items of a given seller.
Power of a Brand
A Brand is tied to the Image & Reputation of a company & creates trust, the basis for establishing a loyal clientele & enhancing a company’s good will.
Consumers often develop emotional attachments to Brands based on a set of desired qualities or features embodied in the products or services associated with their favorite Brands.
The Value of a Brand
A carefully selected & nurtured Brand is a valuable business asset for most companies; it may be the most valuable asset the business owns.
Estimates of the value of some of the world’s most famous brands, such as, Coca-Cola or Nike, exceed $70 billion each.
Most company’s brand may be worth far less, but the perception of their Brand is no less impactful is the minds of their (would be) customers.
